Boys volleyball: Sailors rebound with convincing win

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High boys volleyball team tried

to put the Irvine loss in the past as quickly as possible. Laguna Hills

helped that cause as the Sailors dismantled the visiting Hawks, 15-8,

15-0, 15-11, in Sea View League action Friday.

Blake Tippett and Morgan Craig each led the Sailors (3-4, 1-1 in

league) with nine kills, while Aaron Yarnal added five.

Defensively, Loyd Wright came though with five digs. He also paced the

offense with 42 assists.

Newport, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division III, will play

at Woodbridge on Tuesday, beginning at 5:45 p.m.
