Boys track and field: Tars tear up Pasadena Games

PASADENA - The Newport Harbor High’s distance medley relay squad

won first place at the Pasadena Games at Pasadena City College Saturday,

as the Sailors’ boys track and field team completed some personal best

times.

Harbor’s distance medley relay consisted of junior Jesus Santana, who

ran the 1,200, senior Rich Weber ran the 400, senior John Peschelt took

the baton for the 800 and senior Chris McMillen completed the victory

with his run in the 1,600. The race included 15 schools as the Sailors

finished in 10:31.0, which is the third-fastest time in the state this

year, Harbor Coach Bim Barry said.

Peschelt also finished second in the 800 with a personal best 1:55.1.

“He’s progressing to be one of the top kids in the event by year’s

end,” Barry said of Peschelt.

Newport senior Dan Moyer finished fourth in the 300 hurdles in 39.80,

his personal best.
