FULLERTON - The Orange Coast College baseball team got back on the

winning track with a 5-1 Orange Empire Conference victory over host

Fullerton Tuesday.

OCC’s Greg Trimble smacked his first home run of the season, a solo

shot in the sixth inning to give the Pirates a 5-1 lead. He finished 2

for 4 with a pair of runs scored. Coast grabbed an unearned run in the

third and added three scores in the fourth on just one hit, a double by

Ryan Marcos.

Pirates Scott Beerer, a Newport Harbor High product, and Brian Murhpy,

also doubled. OCC starter Rob Wiliams gave up one run in 5 2/3 innings to

pick up his second win and Mark Courvoisier went 3 1/3 innings, facing 13

batters and yielding one single to earn his second save.

The Bucs (19-8, 6-8 in conference), who finished 18-23 overall and

8-16 in the OEC last year, ended a two-game skid and have not lost three

in a row this season.

OCC is tied for third place in the OEC with Saddleback, which defeated

Irvine Valley, 27-4. Conference leader Santa Ana bumped Cypress out of

the third-place jam with a 12-5 win.

Fullerton dropped to 13-15, 6-8 in the OEC.
