College softball: Vanguard sweeps The Master’s College

COSTA MESA - Vanguard University’s softball team swept The Master’s

College, in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday on the winner’s

diamond.

Vanguard’s Gina Liebengood threw a one-hitter with three strikeouts to

lead the Lions to a 1-0 victory in the opening game. Celina Camarillo

scored on Erin Gomez’s groundout in the final inning.

Vanguard (24-14) completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory as Andrea

Saucedo and Jill Jessen finished with two hits each. Jessen also had two

RBIs, while Jessica Thompson and Cheri Smith chipped in one each.

The Master’s College dropped to 22-12.
