Prep softball: Tars shut out at Irvine

IRVINE - Newport Harbor High Coach Jess Martinson said he hopes

Tuesday’s 14-0 Sea View League opening loss at Irvine is a “major wake-up

call.”

Sailors Bailey Beardon, Shelby Crisp, Kim Moore, Sabrina Couch and

Jennifer Gummerman finished with one single each as Harbor was done in by

seven errors.

The Tars 9-8, 0-1 in league will host Laguna Hills, Thursday at 3:15

p.m.

“We just got off to a poor start,” Martinson said. “And it never got

better.”
