SAN BERNARDINO - Vanguard University’s Gina Liebengood pitched her

seventh shutout of the season to highlight the Lions softball team’s

doubleheader sweep at Cal State San Bernardino, Wednesday, in

nonconference action.

Liebengood, with a 1.15 ERA, allowed five hits to improve her pitching

record to 13-7.

The Lions (24-14) rallied from a three-run deficit to score a 6-5 win

in the nightcap. Vanguard’s Andrea Saucedo blasted a two-run triple to

tie the game, 5-5, in the sixth inning. Nikki Benning then delivered a

game-winning RBI single.

Vanguard pitcher Celina Camarillo relieved Cheri Smith to hold the

Coyotes scoreless and hitless over the last four innings, retiring all 13

batters she faced.
