Girls water polo: Tars’ Ball All-CIF

Newport Harbor High senior Erin Ball, who helped the Sailors win

the Sea View League girls water polo title and advance to the CIF

Southern Section Division I quarterfinals, has been selected All-CIF

third team.

Ball, whose 50 steals were second-best on the team, also amassed 21

goals and 23 assists and drew eight ejections. Her play helped Harbor go

unbeaten in Sea View action and earn the No. 3 seed in the Division I

playoffs. The Sailors finished 22-8.

Ball, who was inadvertently omitted from a story about All-CIF

honorees in Thursday’s edition, was a captain for the Sailors. Her four

varsity seasons included a CIF Division I title campaign in 1999.

Ball, who was also a first-team All-Sea View League choice this

season, has accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Michigan,

where she plans to continue her water polo career.
