Boys swimming: Estancia wins with personal bests

COSTA MESA - Estanica High’s David Silva, Frank Gamboa and David

Teixeira swam their personal bests in their respective events to lead the

Eagles boys swim team to an 87-69 nonleague victory over visiting

Saddleback Friday.

Silva recorded his personal best with a victory in the 100-yard

breaststroke (1:13.73), dropping four seconds from his previous best,

Eagles Coach John Carpenter said.

Gamboa cut five seconds from his previous best with a first-place time

in the 500 freestyle (5:44.50). Teixeira knocked off over six seconds

from his former best as he finished second in the 100 butterfly

(1:08.08).

Gamboa also won the 200 individual medley (2:29.96) and Phil Westfall

turned in a first-place performance in the 200 freestyle (2:09.97).

Estancia (4-3) will compete at Westminster Monday, in a nonleague dual

meet at 3:15 p.m.
