College track and cross country: Huipe signs with Vanguard

COSTA MESA - Estancia High senior Liz Huipe, a track and cross

country star for the Eagles, has signed a letter of intent to attend

Vanguard University in the fall, Lions track coach Bryan Wilkins said.

Huipe, who is a three-time All-Pacific Coast League cross country

selection and earned the same honors three times in track, will compete

in cross country and track at Vanguard. She has also been Estancia’s MVP

of the cross country team three times in her career and twice for the

track team.

“Elizabeth’s talent as a distance runner is well known among high

schools in the area,” Coach Wilkins said. “It won’t take long for her to

draw attention among the GSAC schools this fall.”
