Prep softball: Mesa denied, 5-3

COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa High softball team nearly came back but

fell, 5-3, to Northwood, in Pacific Coast League play at TeWinkle Park

Tuesday.

Down 5-0 after 5 1/2 innings, the Mustangs rallied with one out and

scored three runs as senior Sarah Watkins earned an RBI and sophomore Ann

Marie Topps cracked a sharp grounder to allow sophomore Katy Renish to

score.

Costa Mesa (7-7-1, 2-1 in league) will play Laguna Beach at TeWinkle

Park Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
