Sailors win

LAGUNA HILLS - Newport Harbor High’s boys golf team won by a

whisker, or more accurately, by the play of Brent Beebe, whose 41 proved

the deciding factor after the Sailors and host Laguna Hills dueled to a

194-194 standoff in Sea View League play Tuesday at Laguna Woods Golf

Club.

The Sailors’ Tom Werbe and Daniel Kush had 38s and Miller Akins and

George Hanold had 39s, while Mark Underwood carded a 4-over 40, leaving

Beebe’s 41 to be the decider. He bested the Hawks’ sixth man by three

strokes.

Newport improves to 3-4 in Sea View play.
