HB Stars place third in tournament

The HB Stars of AYSO Region 143 (Huntington Beach/Westminster)

captured third place last weekend at the Founder’s Day Tournament in

Torrance.

The Stars won their pool rather handily, behind a strong defense and

the play in goal by Heather Bystrom and Gena Johnson to post shutout

victories over Quartz Hills (3-0), Palos Verdes (2-0), and North Redondo

Beach (5-0).

The three wins put the Stars into the medal round, where they fell,

3-1, to North Redondo Beach, leaving them with a third place standing in

the 12-team tournament.

Ashley Beanblossom, Nikki Freiborg, Alexandra Jaspers, Loren

Kortizija, Ann Ludolph, Brittany Morisette, Lauren Peaslee, Sami Rodden,

Lindsey Rodgers, Lauren Swensen, Whitney Thornton, Emily Tims and Sara

Wong all contributed to the tournament success of the HB Stars, who are

now 20-6-4 overall, with 18 shutouts to their credit.
