Braves explode in the fifth, beat Dodgers, 11-6

The Braves broke open a tight game by scoring six runs in the bottom

of the fifth inning to defeat the Dodgers, 11-6, in Robinwood Little

League Majors Division weekend play.

The game featured several lead changes, but turned in favor of the

Braves when Andrew Compton hit a bases-loaded triple in a fifth inning

that saw the Braves send 11 players to the plate. Overall, Compton, Kyle

Sutheimer, Kevin Powers and Ryan Olson each contributed two hits, and

David Delaney and Todd Locken also came up with big hits during the

rally.

Locken also earned the pitching win, his fourth of the season, with

three strong innings of relief work. Olson and Kevin Radle also came up

with key defensive plays for the Braves, who remained unbeaten at 8-0 and

sewed up the first half championship.

* Yankees 11, Giants 4

Josh Mason had a two-RBI double, Luke Huber had two RBI singles, Buddy

Huber had an RBI single, Tony Leppek also had an RBI, and shortstop

Taylor Urieta came up with three key outs in the first inning to squelch

a Giants’ scoring opportunity to lead the Yankees.

For the Giants, Steve Esch had a bases loaded, two-RBI double, and

Cody Stroud had an RBI.
