NBLL Majors: Diamondbacks edge Yankees

Scott Colton had two doubles to lead the Diamondbacks to a 4-3 win

over the Yankees in Newport Beach Little League Majors Division action

Saturday.

In addition to Colton’s offense, Grant Heffernan, Greg Garte and

Cameron Black came through with clutch hits, while Curtis Converse

anchored the defense.

Garte was strong on the mound for the D-Backs, pitching a

complete-game gem.

The Yankees were led both on the mound and at the plate by Vinnie

Saint John.

In other Majors Division action:

Giants 5, Red Sox 4 - Danny Moskovits and Phillip Bannan provided

enough strong pitching to lead the Giants over the Red Sox Monday.

On offense, Bannan came through with a single and double, while Kevin

Dearen added a single, an RBI and two runs scored for the Giants.

Other Giant offensive weapons included Jaffer Kattan, Kevin Kottke,

Tommy Hutchison and Nick Taylor.

In AA Division action:

Dodgers 10, Cardinals 8 - Dodgers’ pitchers Jarrett Logan, Nick

Flamson and Kyle Danese combined for nine strikeouts to lead the Big Blue

to a win over the Cardinals.

Chris Burke, Karl Fletcher, Gustaf Hellmer and Carter Taylor combined

for eight hits and seven RBIs for the Dodgers, while Francesco

Impagliazzo and Chase Nugent combined for four runs scored.

The Dodgers were led on defense by David Weiland.
