Brian Sanfilippo of Fountain Valley accepted a football scholarship to

Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. He played football for Fountain

Valley High School, graduating in 1998, and then for Goldenwest College.

He is the son of Bob and Linda Sanfilippo of Fountain Valley. . . .

See-Chen Lee of Fountain Valley received scholastic honors in the field

of aeronautics and astronomy at Purdue University. . . . Huntington Beach

resident Noemi Gower and Ada Dove Smith of Fountain Valley are being sent

on an all-expenses paid trip to Paris for their work with Avon Products

Inc. The two workers received their award for placing among the top 10%

of district managers nationally for their sales growth in 2000. . . .

Army Pvt. Venancio E. Decocariza of Huntington Beach graduated from the

light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training course at Fort

Jackson in Columbia, S.C., Decocariza was trained to perform maintenance

on vehicle power assisted brake systems, wheel-hub assemblies, mechanical

and hydraulic steering systems, wheel vehicle crane and hoist and winch

assemblies. He is the son of Mercy E. Anderson of Huntington Beach. . . .

Lauren Movius, a 1998 graduate of Edison High School, completed her

junior year as a UCLA student at the University of Toulouse, France. She

has been selected for membership in the Golden Key National Honor Society

and will return home this summer and work as a lifeguard and swim

instructor before returning to UCLA in the fall.
