Boys volleyball: Newport downs Woodbridge in four

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High boys volleyball team

prepared for today’s Santa Barbara Tournament with a 15-4, 14-16, 15-4,

15-11 victory over visiting Sea View League foe Woodbridge Thursday.

Junior Greg Perrine led the Sailors (7-5, 4-2 in league) with 17

kills, while senior Blake Tippett slammed for 13. Newport junior Loyd

Wright served up 57 assists which also gave way to 11 kills for senior

Christian Berg-Hansen and 10 from junior Morgan Craig.

The Tars play tournament host Santa Barbara at 11 a.m. and depending

on that result they will then take on the winner or loser of Santa Ynez

vs. Bear River in the 16-team tourney.
