IRVINE - The Costa Mesa High boys volleyball team lost, 15-6,

15-5, 15-1, at Northwood, which has a share of the Pacific Coast League

lead. The Mustangs, however, displayed improvement again Friday, Coach

Dave Sorrells said.

Costa Mesa’s Eli Solis led with six kills, while senior Mike Payne and

junior Carlos Jaime had five each.

“Look out for us next year,” Sorrells said. “We’re really close to

being a decent team. I wish we were starting right now. I’m really

looking forward to next year.”

Mesa (2-10, 1-7 in league) plays at Laguna Beach at 4 p.m.

Northwood improved to 7-1 in league.
