CORONA DEL MAR -- Two separate outbreaks of violence at Corona del Mar

High School landed three students in the hospital last week.

Corona del Mar High student Aaron Hacker, 18, of Costa Mesa insulted a

16-year-old classmate and then pushed him into a wall at about 1 p.m.

Friday, said Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman.

The victim hit his head on the wall and suffered a cut and a

concussion, police said. The boy was taken to the hospital and has since

been released.

Hacker was arrested on suspicion of assault with great bodily injury,

Shulman said.

Hacker is scheduled to be arraigned today at Harbor Justice Center.

His bail is set at $10,000, Shulman said.

The incident was the second violent act on the campus in fewer than 24

hours.

At about 10 p.m. Thursday, two students reportedly returned to the

campus to pick up a forgotten backpack, Shulman said.

“When they got there, there was a vehicle parked in the lot,” he said.

“When they got out of the car, they were confronted by what they believe

were eight people in a car. All of them approached -- six male and two

female. One male struck one victim repeatedly. The other guy couldn’t

come to his friend’s rescue because the rest surrounded him.”

The second boy was then attacked by someone else in the group, police

said. The victims told police they believe the people in the group were

not Corona del Mar High students.

Police are still investigating the attack of the two Newport Beach

boys, Shulman said.

Police declined to comment on the condition of the two students who

drove themselves to the hospital.
