NBLL Majors: Reds edge Dodgers, 1-0

NEWPORT BEACH - In a game which lasted less than an hour, the Reds

defeated the Dodgers, 1-0, in Newport Beach Little League Major Division

action.

Reds’ pitcher Jake Lemmerman tossed a complete-game two hitter. He

struck out 15 during his 70-pitch performance.

The Reds scored the game’s lone run when Blaine Nielsen ripped a

double to score Andrew Silva in the bottom of the first inning.

Dodgers’ hurler Kelsey Chase pitched a complete game, but took the

hard luck loss. Luke Greiner and Allen Hardison each made solid defensive

plays behind Chase.

In other Majors Division action:

Angels 5, Mariners 2 - Paul Fulmer and Andy Rovzar each went 2 for 3

to lead the Angels past the Mariners.

Michael Page chipped in with a key hit for the Angels, while pitchers

Barrett Hendrickson and Geoffrey Grant combined to limit the Mariners to

just three hits and no earned runs.

The Mariners were led by Tom Solis and Devin Kelly. Solis had two hits

and pitched two scoreless innings, while Kelly had a hit and allowed just

one earned run over three innings.

In other Majors Division action:

Cardinals win twice - In the Cardinals’ 10-3 win over the Braves, Ryan

Telles led the attack with three hits, while Sam Stafford, Collin Wigely

each had two hits.

John Yesh, William O’Brien, James Petrilli, Aaron Northcraft and Eric

Berkley each contributed single hits for the Cards (11-2).

In the 2-1 win over the Angels, Stafford and Northcraft each had RBI

hits to bring the Cardinals back from a 1-0 deficit. Pitcher Andy Rovzar

pitched three scoreless innings to lead the Cards’ staff.

Red Sox 17, Braves 2 - Kai Youngman and Kevin Holland each had four

hits to lead the Red Sox over the Braves.

Grant Gerdau, Michael Ford and Reagan Riley also added key hits for

the Red Sox, while Jordan Goulding, Steven Hillgren and Jacob Goulding.

David Wheatley, Mitchell Williams, Thomas Dialynas, Jordan Taormina

and Austin Harms led the Braves’ attack.

Diamondbacks 8, Braves 1 - Connor Whalen struck out eight over three

innings to lead the Diamondbacks over the Braves.

Scott Colton and Garrett Amoroso also pitched well for the D-Backs,

while Greg Garte (two doubles) and Grant Heffernan (3 for 3) sparked the

offense.

Other key offensive contributors for the Diamondbacks included Wyatt

Cole, Chris Rose, Ford Noe and Riley Sullivan.

The Braves were led by Thomas Dialynas, David Wheatley, Alex Ray and

Charles Vickery.

Red Sox 4, Mariners 2 - Pitcher Alex Mathews, Kevin Holland, J.R. Dion

and Michael Ford combined for nine strikeouts in the Red Sox win over the

Mariners.

Kai Youngman, Tim Leber, Jacob Golding and Alex Mathews anchored the

Red Sox defense, while Grand Gerdan and Ford each had two hits and two

runs scored.

Holland, Matthews, Goulding, Dion, Reagan Riley and Drew Brahs all had

key hits for the Sox.

The Mariners were led by Tom Solis, Willy Harrison, Nick Freeman,

Devon Kelly, Bobby Manning, Erik Rask and Michael Baer.

In AAA Division action:

Dodgers 6, Tigers 2 - Michael Bloom allowed only one hit with eight

strikeouts over four innings to lead the Dodgers over the Tigers.

Reed Zachman and John Doering relieved Bloom and kept the Dodgers in

the lead, while J.P. Fleming and Noah Molnar each had key hits.

The Tigers were led by the hitting and catching of Joey Booth and the

pitching of Steven Manning and Trevor Jones.

Dodgers 14, Red Sox 7 - Mike Artenian and Russell Goldberg each had

two hits to lead the Dodgers past the Red Sox.

Pitcher Michael Bloom struck out six in three innings, while John

Doering pitched three solid innings to preserve the win, helped by Reed

Zachman’s strong defense.

The Red Sox were led by William Ham, Matt Steinberg, Dylan Davis, Matt

Wheatley and John Lockhart.

Cardinals 4, Angels 3 - Trailing, 3-1, the Cardinals rallied for a 4-3

comeback win.

Clay Beaver and Jake Killian each came through with key RBI hits to

spark the Cardinals’ rally.

Pitchers Bret Weinberger, Doug Kelly and Camden Nicholson combined to

shut down the Angels’ attack.

Mets 20, Red Sox 6 - There were plenty of offensive stars for the Mets

in their win over the Red Sox.

Jeff Jones, Matt Morris, Beau Attyan each had doubles, while solid

hits were turned in by Tim Winning, Brian Frazier, Ronnie Sadler,

Benjamin Noe, Kyle Warsaw, Alex Sweigert and Cory Donovan.

Cardinals 4, Diamondbacks 2 - Bret Weinberger pitched three strong

shutout innings to lead the Cardinals past the Diamondbacks.

Michael Epstein had a key double, while Camden Nicholson added a

sacrifice fly for the Cards.

Angels 6, Mets 0 - Taylor Stone, Parker Stone and Conner Bannon each

threw goose eggs at the Mets to lead the Angels to victory.

Parker Stone also provided the Angels with solid offense, going 3 for

3 and a run scored. Taylor Stone added two hits, while Max Voetner,

Tennyson Mitchell, Andrew Mason, Guy Sutherland, Randell Nelson and

Conner Bannon each contributed to the Angels’ offense.

The Angels’ stars also came through with a 9-0 win over the Tigers.

In AA Division action:

Mariners 13, Diamondbacks 5 - Doug Watt had three hits and pitched

three shutout innings to lead the Mariners over the Diamondbacks.

Mitch Gardner and Matt Ruiz each had two hits for the M’s, while Alex

Mainthow came through with a triple, his third in the past two games.

The M’s defense was led by Alex Pastre, Zac Cabin and Trevor McGhie,

while John Christian pitched two solid innings of relief.

The Diamondbacks were led by Brooks Brady, Mattias Russo-Larson, Chris

Freeman, Parker Seaman and Christian St. Clair.
