A’s trip Dodgers, 7-2

A six-run, second-inning outburst ignited the A’s on Saturday, and

they went on to post a 7-2 victory over the Dodgers in Majors Division

action at Ocean View Little League.

Key hits by Randy Guite and Travis Dagdigian highlighted the second

inning, but it was Michael Peters’ fourth-inning home run that was the

hit of the day for the A’s.

Albert Breitwieser had two hits, and Stephen Tomasek and Michael

Patriarca both scored for the Dodgers.

Mets 6, Giants 0

Behind the strong pitching of Troy Davis, Garrett Shinn and Jon Grothe

(nine strikeouts and four hits between them), the Mets blanked the

Giants. Grothe and Davis also came up big on offense, with Grothe getting

four hits and four runs batted in with three runs scored. Davis had two

singles. Finn Jensen had two hits, and pitcher Kyle Hughes struck out 10

in a complete-game effort to lead the Giants.

Yankees 6, Dodgers 0

Yankees pitcher Joseph Park was nearly perfect in a complete game

performance, striking out 17 while allowing just one hit, a first-inning

single to Aaron Chatigny. Park also gave up one walk.

A’s 7, Mets 3

A’s pitchers Nick Orendorff and Scott Baxter split duties and combined

for 10 strikeouts in handing the Mets their first loss. Orendorff also

had two hits and two RBIs, and Davey Hughey had two hits. For the Mets,

Troy Davis had two hits and an RBI, and Jon Grothe had two hits.
