Softball: Sailors battle, but falls to Woodbridge

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High softball team dropped a 3-2

Sea View League decision to visiting Woodbridge Friday.

Despite not getting a hit, the Sailors nearly battled all the way back

from a 3-0 hole when a walk, a sacrifice and two Woodbridge errors cut

the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning.

“It was a good team effort, but we just came up a little short,”

Newport Coach Jess Martinson said. “We hit the ball hard all day, but we

hit the ball at people all day, too.”

Newport (9-14, 0-7 in league) will play at Aliso Niguel Thursday at

3:30 p.m.
