NHBA Bronco: Dodgers take pair of 10-9 decisions

The Dodgers pulled out a pair of 10-9 victories over the Cardinals

and Cubs last weekend in Newport Harbor Baseball Association Bronco

Division (ages 11-12) action.

In the win over the Cards, R.J. D’Cruz went 3 for 3 with three runs

scored and four RBIs, while Jarrett Daniel went 4 for 4 with two runs

scored and three RBIs.

Other offensive leaders for the Dodgers were Ian Goodwin, Jerry

Whitney, Dan Winkle, Alan Orozco and Jake Dayton.

Trey LaGrandeur and Robert Tumlin added solid Dodger defense, while

Chase Behr pitched well.

For the Cards, Michael Thagard had three hits, while Matt Kretschmar

added two hits, including a home run. Jason Loftus, Blake Sonke, Glen

Christensen, Kyle Kula and Cody McDonald each added key hits, while Blake

Pinto and Andrew Skjonsby anchored the defense.

In other Bronco Division action:

Indians 12, Giants 6 - Nathan Todd went 2 for 3 with three runs scored

to lead the Indians over the Giants.

Other Indian contributors, both offensively and defensively include

Kyle Rohan, Andrew Kaban, Garrett Gordon, Josh Jobse, Jackson Massingill

and Myles Christian.

The Giants were led by solid play from Eric Bonn, Chris Lomenzo, Ben

Frazier, Andrew Lowery, Cameron Chase, Derek Saylor and Jeff Lowery.

Dodgers 8, Red Sox 7 - Jarrett Daniel came through with three hits and

pitched two effective innings to lead the Dodgers.

Jerry Whitney added two doubles, while Eric Paine had two key hits for

the Dodgers.

Other Dodger contributors included R.J. D’Cruz, Trey LaGrandeur, Jake

Dayton, Ian Goodwin, Dan Winkle, Alan Orozco, Chase Behr and Robert

Tumlin.

For the Red Sox, Brett Houton, Michael Helfrich, Brock Schuler, Tommy

Olson, Spenser Smith, Michael Garcia, Steven Kietzer, Stefan Brysha,

Brett Adams and Vince Newsome each played well.

In Mustang Division (ages 9-10) action:

Mariners 6, Rockies 0 - Pitchers Josh Jaye and Adrian Rodriguez

combined to toss a no-hitter for the Mariners in their win over the

Rockies.

Parker Norton, Macky Gautshi, Garrett Morgan, Darren Leggett, Keegan

Jakosky and Spencer Martinez each had key hits and solid glove work on

defense for the M’s.

Dodgers 7, Red Sox 1 - Pitchers Chris Griffin, Dan Norris and Jeff

Frum combined for 12 strikeouts to lead the Dodgers.

Peter Thomsen and Griffin each had two hits, while Thomsen added four

RBIs. Other Dodger offensive contributors included Braden Cluck and

Garrett McRoberts.

The Red Sox were led by strong pitching of Ryan Albert, who struck out

six over three innings.

Red Sox 14, Yankees 9 - Alex Rios’ three-run home run helped the Red

Sox take care of the Yankees.

Rios finished the game with three hits and four RBIs.

Ryan Albert added two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while Eric

Holland came through with two hits and two runs scored for the Sox.

Max Royer, Sean Mangano, Randall Hause, Bobby Okvist, Jesse Hickey and

Jeff Hamilton also had big all-around games for the Red Sox.

For the Yankees, Justin Todd pitched three strong innings, while the

offense was led by Kyle Lawrence and Elliott Kaufman.

Mariners 10, Red Sox 8 - The Mariners were led by the pitching of

Adrian Rodriguez and the hitting of Joshua Jaye.

For the Red Sox, Ryan Albert, Sean Mangano, Eric Holland, Max Royer,

Bobby Okvist and Ryan Albert each had strong performances.

Dodgers 13, Mets 2 - Garrett McRoberts, Daniel Norris, Jeff Frum and

Chris Griffin each had two hits to lead the Dodgers’ attack, while Victor

Done, Justin Cotham and Peter Thomsen each added RBI singles.

Strong defense was provided by Dodger teammates Jeff Allee, Max

Jolliffe, Braden Cluck and David Blake-Panas.

Scott Ward had two hits and played stellar defense for the Mets.

In Pinto Division (ages 7-8) action:

For the Cubs, in their contest with the Dodgers, strong play was

turned in by Adam Mahaffey, Colton Gyulay, Kyle Orton and Dakota Vasco,

who each came through with key offensive and defensive performances.
