A 10-year-old Tustin girl ran into a sport utility vehicle on

Wednesday as she played tag before a family dinner on Balboa Island.

The girl, who police did not identify by press time, ran into the

street on Topaz Avenue, near the Park Avenue intersection, where she ran

into the back of the vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl.

Newport police did not release the name of the driver involved in the

4:56 p.m. accident. The victim was admitted to Hoag Hospital with a

compound fracture of her left leg and was in stable condition. The driver

was not cited or arrested, police said.
