CdM gets a little bit of revenge

CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High’s softball team tuned up for

the upcoming CIF Playoffs with an 8-2 victory over Pacific Coast League

rival Costa Mesa Wednesday afternoon, improving to 14-10, 7-3 in the PCL,

with an impressive 11-hit attack on the winners’ diamond.

CdM Coach Terry Christiano said his team, smoldering over remarks from

Costa Mesa in a prior game that the Mustangs expected to mercy his team

the next time around, pulled every lever in hammering out the victory.

Alissa Zoelle was a one-woman wrecking crew, pitching a four-hitter

and slugging a home run, two triples and a single in four at-bats.

Amy Tyson and Mijanou Pham were each 2 for 4 and Lauren Loe was 2 for

3 as Corona del Mar struck for three runs in the first inning, upped the

lead to 5-0 after three by virtue of Meghan Bunney’s two-run homer and

were never threatened.

Tyson, Pham, Zoelle and Loe had base hits in the first inning to set

the pace.
