Track and field results which came in after presstime include the

following.

In CIF Southern Section Division III: Costa Mesa High sophomore Sharon

Day qualified first in the high jump Friday at Trabuco Hills. The

defending Division III champion cleared a 5-2 mark.

Corona del Mar’s 1,600 relay will be seeded ninth in the CIF Finals,

which is May 19 at Cerritos College. Becky Cummins, Katherine Morse,

Jaycee Mahler and Jenny Cummins ran to a 4:08.57.

In Division II at Mt. San Antonio College: Amber Steen’s CIF record in

the 3,200, a 10:27.20, surpassed the 10:32.89 run of Reyna Cervantes of

Montebello in 1989.

Among the Newport Harbor boys, Chris McMillen, who qualified second in

the 1,600, did not qualify for the CIF Finals in the 3,200, Sailors Coach

Bim Barry said. Newport senior Dan Moyer qualified sixth in the 300

intermediate hurdles (39.30) and was first in his heat.

“That was a pretty good race for him,” said Tars hurdles coach Nowell

Kay. “He finished real strong. He’s a real tough runner. He pretty much

had to win (the heat) to go on.”
