NMPC: CdM Mets edge Indians in eight innings

NEWPORT BEACH - Valentin Ivanitski came through with the

game-winning hit to lead the Corona del Mar Mets to a 5-4 win over the

Indians in Newport-Mesa Pony Conference (ages 13-14) action.

Ivanitski’s hit in the eighth inning drove in Rojer Hamilton, who

started the inning with a single.

Josh Miller Blake Matthews and Tom Money each had key hits in the

seventh and eighth innings for the Mets, while Wes Presson pitched the

final four innings, holding the Indians scoreless. Presson also helped

his own cause with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

In other NMPC action:

Mets split with Angels: After completing a March 31 contest with the

Angles, an 8-7 loss, the Mets came back and won the second game, 11-1.

In the opener, Eric Eadington’s two-run home run in the eighth inning

gave the Angels the win, while Ben Maggard pitched three strong innings

to earn the win.

Paul Neff, Scott Leimkuhler and Corbin Medina each contributed big

hits and each scored a run for the Angels.

For the Mets, Wes Presson and Steven Hinton each scored twice.

In the nightcap, Blake Allred hit a solo home run, while Josh Miller

had two RBIs and a run scored for the Mets.

Braden Ross added a run scored and an RBI, while Blake Mathews had a

double, a run scored and two RBIs.
