Memorial Day Tournament this weekend

Fountain Valley Youth Baseball will hold its third annual Memorial Day

Tournament today through Monday at Mile Square Park. Past tournaments

have attracted some of the top youth baseball players in Southern

California Little Leagues, Pony Leagues and travel teams.

Competition will be held in 8 and Under, 10 and Under, 12 and Under

and 13/14 and Under divisions.

On Saturday, Richard Bosworth, author of “The Box Seat Dream,” will be

at Mile Square Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a book signing. “The Box

Seat Dream” details a 12-year-old Little Leaguer, Jimmy McNeil, growing

up in Yonkers, New York during the mid-1970s. McNeil, through a chance of

fate, obtains an original 1923 Yankee Stadium seat, the one and only seat

to survive the historic renovation of modern sports most decorated

stadium.
