Mets dump Yankees, Dodgers

The Mets picked up two more victories this past week as they routed

the Yankees, 12-0, before holding off the Dodgers, 4-2.

The Mets scored nine runs in the fourth inning to go from a 2-0 lead

into an 11-0 advantage against the Yankees. Scott Melchert and Garrett

Shinn combined for the win.

Melchert opened the game and ended up with eight strikeouts and two

hits in three innings of work. Shinn finish the game, getting three

strikeouts while allowing just two hits.

Patrick Daugherty had two hits in the game, and it was his bases

loaded double, that produced three runs, that highlighted the nine run

fourth inning.

Troy Davis also had two hits, including an RBI single, Shinn came up

with a pair of singles and Michael Springer had a key hit for the Mets.

Anthony Peralta had two hits and starter Charlie Martin allowed just

two runs in three innings, to lead the Yankees.

Against the Dodgers, Jon Grothe struck out seven and gave up two hits

and one run in four innings. Davis finished the game, getting four

strikeouts.

The Mets were led in hitting by Grothe, who had two singles and scored

twice, Davis had an RBI single and Jeff Hennes had a hit and RBI.

Brett Sterbens singled twice and James Miller and Albert Breitwieser

had singles for the Dodgers.

Nick Hansen had two hits, two RBI and scored three runs, Jacob Frazier

had two hits and scored twice, Colin Fender scored three runs, starter

Sean Rubino struck out eight in three innings and Mark Johnson finished

the game and recorded the save to power the Dodgers.
