Devil Rays edge Yankees in nine, 3-2

Billy Bintner delivered an RBI single in the ninth inning last weekend

to lift the Devil Rays to a 3-2 victory over the Yankees in Fountain

Valley Little League Majors Division play.

The game was tied at 1-1 through six innings, when the Devil Rays got

their second run of the game in the eighth inning on Alex Moreno’s fourth

home run of the season.

Moreno also doubled in the contest, Les Obie doubled and singled and

Bintner also doubled.

Mark Cubberly led the Yankees with a pair of singles.

In other games:

Cardinals 6, Mariners 1

Brian Faust and Zack Cardinelli both singled and scored twice, and

Faust and Andrew Bender combined to strike out eight. Joe Musser and

Garrett James singled for the Mariners.

Marlins 18, Dodgers 3

Jeff Spirk led the Marlins’ 12-hit attack with a double and two

singles, Cameron Hammer and Jordan Brown each singled twice, and Spirk

and Hamer combined for 12 strikeouts. Erick Rhoten doubled and Kyle

Ziething and Joel Stanton singled to lead the Dodgers.

MINOR A DIVISION

Mets 8, Diamondbacks 6

Peter Fontes hit two singles and Brandon Wilson, Eric Hamilton, Joe

Green and Tyler Buckles all had key hits for the Mets. Mo Alasker singled

twice and Neil Mira doubled for the D-backs.

Mariners 12, Yankees 11

Michael James tripled and singled and Robert Reynolds hit two singles

in the Mariners’ 10-hit attack. Mike Delicce led the Yankees with a

triple, double and single. Elton Stolze added a double and two singles.

Cardinals 4, Dodgers 3

Chad Palsulich’s double and singles by Josh Ishizaki, Vincent Parker

and Michael Elmore helped the Cards edge the Dodgers, who received

singles by Magic Lucio, A.J. Cardinelli and Eric Toso.

MINOR B DIVISION

Pirates 6, Yankees 3

The Pirates’ James Samples singled three times and scored twice, Ryan

Parsons singled with an RBI and Tony Ferns, Samples and Patrick McGuin

combined to strike out 12 without allowing a hit.

Devil Rays 8, Brewers 5

Bobby Kunkel led the Devil Rays with two doubles and two runs scored

and Chad Martin had a double. Julius Zarasate went 3 for 3 for the

Brewers.

Cardinals 20, Mariners 13

The Cardinals had four players with multiple hits including Spencer

Dalbey with a home run and single, Robbie Daquila with a double and two

singles, James Hong with a triple and single and Alex Van Roekel with a

double and single. Kaz Nishikawa delivered a three-run home run and Zach

Edwards had a two-RBI double to lead the Mariners.

Marlins 14, Dodgers 7

Matt Feltman singled twice and scored twice for the Marlins. Joe

Cordero scored three runs and Brandon Hale scored twice for the Dodgers.
