KIDS’ PLAY

* SCHOOL: Mariners Elementary

* STORY LINE: Maria, a young woman who loves to sing, questions her

decision to become a nun. She is sent by the Mother Abbess to be a

governess for seven rebellious children. Their father, a widowed ex-naval

captain, encourages marching over playing, with little time for

merriment. Maria enchants the children with her music and wins the

captain over with her charm.
