PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Good things come to those who wait, or at least that is how the saying

goes. Photojournalism is all about the moment. If you’re not at the right

place at the right time, you miss it. In this case, I was at the right

place and the right time, but didn’t know it.

I saw a worker climbing on a bulletin board for a tobacco

advertisement that featured a cartoon sketch of a dinosaur. I thought it

would be cool if I waited to see if one guy would pop his head over the

board, giving the illusion that the dinosaur was looking right at him. I

waited and waited. Nothing happened.

I became frustrated and decided to check out the other side of the

board to see what was keeping these guys from coming over to my side.

When I walked over, I saw this seascape with Mike Benavidez smoothing

out a crease, and just knew this was the picture I was waiting for.
