White Sox tame Diamondbacks, 6-2

Michael Mendez smacked a three-run home run in the opening inning

Saturday, a hit which propelled the White Sox to a 6-2 victory over the

Diamondbacks in Majors Division play.

Charles Pearson had a single and two RBI, Hunter White singled with an

RBI and starting pitcher White fanned seven.

For the Diamondbacks, Jenna Balester doubled with an RBI, Chase Barnes

doubled and Balester and Barnes combined to strike out eight.

In other games:

Mariners 7, Rangers 2

Peter Bryson struck out five in a complete game and also singled

twice, Austin Ray doubled, singled and had an RBI, Justin Draeger doubled

and had three RBI, Justin Gunn-Reed doubled with an RBI and Luke Patrick

went 3 for 3 to lead the Mariners. Trevor Briggs singled twice and Adam

Sciarrillo doubled for the Rangers.

A’s 11, Angels 0

Brian Wiktorski struck out five and also singled twice and walked,

Cody Moran had two singles and three RBI, Kevin Oakley doubled twice,

singled and had four RBI, Kyle Ammons singled twice and scored three

runs, Alex Barnes singled twice with an RBI, Danny Watt and Race

Parmenter each singled twice and Pablo McBeth singled and had two RBI as

the A’s needed just four innings to top the Angels. Jimmy Queen, Mike

Jacinto, Christian Cazarez, Daris Douty and Adam Cutts all singled for

the Angels.

MINOR A DIVISION

Marlins 24, Indians 5

Barry Luke tripled twice, doubled, singled and had an RBI, Tanner

Phillips singled, doubled, tripled and had six RBI, Jimmy Miller doubled

twice, tripled and had seven RBI and Michael Chairez and Danny Hurato

each had a single and RBI to power the Marlins. Jeremy Carrillo singled

twice to lead the Indians.

Yankees 10, Mets 5

Nick Retice doubled, tripled and had two RBI, Trevor Springman doubled

with two RBI, Ricky Marin singled three times and Matt Jacinto singled

twice for the Yankees.

The Mets’ Alex Meneses singled three times, Parker Biehn singled

twice, Drew Bauman doubled with an RBI and Sean Reimer singled with an

RBI.

Cardinals 17, Dodgers 4

Tim Higgins singled and doubled, Ryan Little, Nick Mazzone and Dave

Folger each singled twice and Eric Bartlett doubled for the Cardinals;

Jake Guzman singled twice for the Dodgers.
