Spirk homer leads Marlins over Yankees, 5-4

Jeff Spirk delivered a home run in the seventh inning Saturday to lift

the Marlins past the Yankees, 5-4, in Majors Division play.

He also got victory, striking out 11 in six innings.

The Marlins also received two hits from Zack Moore and a triple from

Cameron Hammer.

The Yankees’ Matt Fink hit two singles.

Devil Rays 5, Cardinals 2

Tied 2-2 through six innings, the Devil Rays scored three runs in the

seventh to get the win.

Jake Rear, David Tarbell and Kyle Yoakum loaded the bases before Les

Obie singled home the go-ahead run and Kevin Smisko singled home the

final two.

Billy Bintner hit a home run in the first inning, his second of the

season.

Grant Furuya, Ricky Rea, Andrew Bender and Gordon Edwards all singled

for the Cardinals.

Dodgers 8, Mariners 6

Skyler Winston led the Dodger attack with a pair of doubles, a single

and four RBI. David Jensen doubled and singled and Erik Rhoten double for

the winners.

Ryan Buckles blasted two home runs to led the Mariners and Justin

Maddux and Garrett James each singled twice.

Mariners 10, Diamondbacks 1

Robert Reynolds singled twice with two RBI to lead the Mariners;

Shaunessey Moore, Greg Souders, Zack LaMantain and Tyler Buckles all

singled for the D-backs.

Dodgers 16, Yankees 1

The Dodgers’ 20-hit attack featured Doug Hansen and Magic Lucio each

going 4 for 4, Kevin Osaki singled three times, A.J. Cardinelli doubled

and singled and Colton Macy and Jordan Magana each singled twice.

For the Yankees, Mike Delicce singled twice and Elton Stolze and Sean

Taylor each singled.

Cardinals 8, Mets 4

Brittany Schutte and Johnny Brewer led the Cardinals with two hits and

an RBI; the Mets had singles from Chris Van Vuuren, Mo Alasker, Trevor

Calhoon, Neil Mira and Chris Martinez.

MINOR B DIVISION

Marlins 15, Yankees 7

Kody Afusia doubled and singled and Doug Teuscher, Randy Brownfield

and Matt Feltman all doubled for the Marlins; Nicholas Perruccio doubled

and Ryan Strachan singled for the Yankees.

Devil Rays 8, Pirates 2

Jared Williams, Bobby Kunkle, Nick Carrigan and Logan Kendig all

singled for the Devil Rays; Patrick McGinn singled twice and Tim Brown

singled for the Pirates.

Brewers 12, Mariners 4

Nick Loukides tripled and doubled, Shelby Fischer tripled, Matthew

Brown doubled and singled and Mo Hurchburger doubled to lead the Brewers;

Zach Edwards tripled and Greg Greene and Tyler Smith each scored twice

for the Mariners.

Cardinals 13, Dodgers 3

James Hong, Justin Catalano, Spencer Dalbey and Robbie Daquila carried

the Cardinals; Ryan Silva doubled and Dylan Conley and Skylar Yap singled

for the Dodgers.
