NBLL Majors: Red Sox reach American Division title game

NEWPORT BEACH - The Red Sox used three straight wins over the

Giants, Mariners and Reds to advance to the Newport Beach Little League

American Division championship game.

In the 10-0 win over the Giants, Michael Ford and J.R. Dion each

scored twice, while Kevin Holland, Jordan Goulding, Grant Gerdau, Tim

Leber and Reagan Riley each scored once.

Dion and Holland combined to strikeout seven Giants, while Jacob

Goulding, Kai Youngman and Drew Brahs sparked the Red Sox defense.

The Giants were led by Danny Moskovits, Bannan, Tommy Hutchison, Nick

Taylor and Jaffer Kattan.

In the 6-3 win over the Mariners, Dion pitched three strong innings

with eight strikeouts, while Holland and Ford combined to close out the

game.

Brahs, Jordan Goulding, Ford, Holland, Dion, Gerdau, Jacob Goulding

and Riley each had key hits to spark the Red Sox six-run third inning.

Bobby Manning and Nick Freeman each had two hits and each scored a run

for the Mariners, while Tim Solis added a hit and a run scored. Pitchers

Willy Harrison, Devon Kelly and Solis combined to shut out the Red Sox

for five of the six innings.

In the 9-4 win over the Reds, Dion had four hits and scored four runs,

while Holland, Gerdau, Jacob Goulding, Leber and Youngman each had a hit

and an RBI.

The Reds were led by Brett Bartlett, who reached base three times and

scored twice and Jake Lemmerman, who had two hits and scored once. Blaine

Nielsen and Andrew Silva each added key hits, while pitchers Brian Burke

and Nielsen combined for eight strikeouts for the Reds.

In other Diamondbacks 4, Dodgers 1 - The three bats of Chris Rosen and

Grant Heffernan and Riley Sullivan provided enough offense to lead the

Diamondbacks to victory.

Pitchers Scott Colton and Greg Garte combined to strike out 10.

For the Dodgers, Luke Greiner and Allen Hardison each had key hits,

while pitchers Kelsey Chase and Nick Pike combined to throw eight

strikeouts.

Diamondbacks 9, Braves 1 - Fletcher Della Grotta, Conner Whalen and

Cameron Black each had two hits for the D’Backs.

Garret Amoroso, Chris Rosen, Grant Heffernan, Scott Colton and Wyatt

Cole each had hits for the D’Backs.

For the Braves, Jordan Taormina, Michael Williams, and Ryan Wess each

added key hits and each pitched well.

Dodgers 8, Diamondbacks 5 - Kelsey Chase had three hits to lead the

Dodgers past the Diamondbacks.

Luke Greiner, Tommy Folks, Spencer Brown and Ryan Austin each

contributed key hits, while Brown and Nick Pike each sparkled on the

mound.

The Diamondbacks were led by offensive contributions from Chris Rosen,

Garret Amoroso, Greg Garte, Grant Heffernan and Wyatt Cole, while Scott

Colton, Garte and Rosen anchored the pitching staff.

In AAA Division action:

Cardinals 8, Braves 0 - Pitchers Bret Weinberger, Doug Kelly and

Camden Nicholsen combined to shut out the Braves in the AAA

quarterfinals.

The Cards’ offense was led by Michael Epstein, Nicholsen, Weinberger,

Jake Killian, Grant Killigan, Robert Boyd and Clay Beaver.

Strong Cardinal defense was displayed by Kevin Tsau, Kelly, Shane

Roddy and Dylan Marsh.

The Braves were led by Danny Baker, Kyle Hill, Scott Ely, Tyler Haly,

Michael Borchard and Dillon Campbell.
