CMNLL Majors: Dodgers rally to defeat Astros

COSTA MESA - The Dodgers used some sixth-inning magic to defeat the

Astros, 6-3, in Costa Mesa National Little League Majors Division action.

After Jessie Guevara and Mike McDaniels each reached base, RBI hits

were added by Parker Roth, Justin Long, Bryan Bennett, Brian Sankey, Matt

Jeranko and Cory Weikel.

Long finished the game with three hits, while Weikel added two. On the

mound, Long and McDaniels combined for 11 strikeouts.

In other Majors Division action:

Cardinals 9, Astros 6 - The Cardinals scored all nine runs in the

first three innings en route to the win.

Sparking the offense was the hot hitting of Starnes Arnold, Garrick

Williams, Eddie Tomasek, Daniel Freeman, Tim Morley, Peter Frydendall and

Evan Van Geem.

Arnold and Van Geem combined to shut down the Astros’ offense,

striking out eight.

Diamondbacks 5, White Sox 0 - Pitchers Brandon Maurer, Allan Kincaide

and Austin Elliott combined to strike out seven to lead the Diamondbacks

past the White Sox.

Elliott was also strong at the plate, clubbing a double and a home run

with two RBIs. Ryan Redding added two hits, while Trevor McDonald and

Aaron Quella each added key hits.

On defense, Taylor McClanahan helped turn a double play, while Kyle

Miller added a nice catch in center field.

Diamondbacks 19, Astros 5 - Austin Elliott had two doubles, a home run

and four RBIs to lead the D’Backs over the Astros.

Taylor McClanahan added two hits and two RBIs, while Kyle Miller added

two hits and two RBIs.

Other key offensive contributors were Trevor McDonald, Matthew

Redding, Allan Kincaide, Riley Hart, Aaron Quella and Brandon Maurer,

while on defense, Mitch Friedmann came through with several nice catches

in right field.

In Minor B Division action:

Marlins 10, Rockies 4 - Johnny Valdez had a key two-run hit to lead

the Marlins past the Rockies.

Daniel Carter, James Wanbaugh, Joshua Ryding, Joshua Erno, Jacob

Wachman and Joseph Eggera also contributed heavily to the Marlins’

offense.

Pitchers Ryding and Bryan Guzman combined to strike out eight, while

Wanbaugh was the defensive star of the game in center field.
