The Majors Division Giants and Mets needed extra innings Saturday, but

both came out on top.

The Giants scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to

upend the A’s, 3-2. Mickey Moses singled home Ian Cable with the winning

run.

The game featured strong pitching performances by the Giants’ Ryan

Schulenburg and Chris Nowlin and the A’s Nick Orendorff and Scott Baxter.

In addition to Schulenburg’s game-winning RBI, the Giants also got

singles from Cable and Finn Jensen.

Orendorff had two hits and Baxter, Stephen Martinez and Davey Hughey

also had hits for the A’s.

In another Saturday thriller, the Mets rallied in the bottom of the

eighth inning to subdue the Yankees, 5-4.

The teams were tied from the fourth inning until the bottom of the

eighth, when the Mets’ Scott Melchert led off the inning with a double.

He later scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

The Yankees were led by Joseph Park, who threw no-hit ball for five

innings.

The Yankees scored their runs behind the hitting of Adrian Conger (two

hits, three RBI), Park (two hits, two runs scored) and Phillip Cobb, who

scored twice.

Melchert struck out seven and allowed two hits in three innings, Troy

Davis fanned six with one hit in three innings, and Garrett Shinn threw

shutout ball over the final two innings for the Mets. Jon Grothe doubled

and Darryl Bennett and David Harrington scored key runs.
