Golf: Bushnell wins Ladies’ Balboa at Big Canyon

NEWPORT BEACH - Nancy Bushnell of Big Canyon Country Club won her

hosting club’s annual Ladies’ Balboa Tournament championship with guest

partner Donna Blue of El Niguel Country Club.

Bushnell and Blue topped a field of 124 women golfers in three flights

with a net score of 125. The prestigious two-day, better-ball of partners

tournament was played in ideal golfing conditions and featured myriad

social events, chaired by Judy Barry (Linda Isle) and Sally Holstein

(Costa Mesa), a former Tea Cup Classic participant.

Other flight winners: Martha Redfearn and Laura Holbrook won Flight A

low gross, while Lee Merrick and Bennie Miller captured Flight A low net.

Flight B winners included Chris Shute and Sally Tilsen (low gross),

and Elizabeth Ensign and Marji Knitter (low net); while Judy Pedersen and

Lori Loftus (low gross), and Nicki Marx and Linda Green (low net) won

Flight C.
