PLACENTIA - The Newport Harbor Baseball Association “C” All-Star
team dropped a 12-1 decision to Placentia “A” in the first round of the
District 1 Tournament Wednesday at Champions Sports Complex.
“I was talking to some of the other coaches about Placentia and I knew
going in that they could hit a ton,” Newport Manager Brian Gowdy said.
“Even our parents were impressed with how good that Placentia team was.”
Newport actually managed to hang tough with Placentia for the first
three innings and had a 1-0 lead when Elliott Kaufman singled, stole
second, stole third and scored on a single by Justin Todd.
Todd two hits and an RBI, while Kaufman and Josh Jaye also added hits.
Newport will play again Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Champions Sports
Complex.
