THE WEATHER FORECAST

Those morning cloudy skies may spell June gloom, but they’ll taper off

to partly cloudy conditions to allow the sun to perform its summer tasks.

Nonetheless, however, the below-average temperatures will still cry

out June as they’ll begin and end in the low 60s while only reaching

about the low 70s.

It’s still wise to throw on the sunscreen if outside for prolongated

durations as UV levels are expected to climb up to about 9 by 2 p.m.

Temperatures will fall back into the high 60s by about 4 p.m. and by

nightfall, the clouds should be returning for similar go-round late today

into early Tuesday.

THE BOATING FORECAST

Winds will blow 10 to 15 knots out of the northwest. The seas will

reveal as much with small, two-foot waves. After a foggy beginning, the

day will clear a little for partly cloudy skies. But, by night, with

winds just as consistent at 10 to 15 knots and waves still small at one

and two feet, the fog will again roll in to create a repeat for Tuesday.

SURF

The strong SW swell is dropping slowly while mixing with a short

period NW wind swell. The latter has led water temperatures to hover in

the low 60s, which they will continue to do.

The Wedge expects some waist to head-high waves and fairly-decent

sets. The Jetties are seeing some smaller waves in the waist to

shoulder-high region. At Newport Pier, the occasional three-foot waves

will show up though most will hover near the ankles and knees. Bring out

the youngsters.
