FAIR FUN

A few tips to make your Orange County Fair experience more fun.

DISH OF THE DAY

You might want to think twice about getting garlic chicken nuggets at

Chicken Charlie’s Broasted Chicken on Centennial Way if you’re planning a

romantic evening with your loved one. But otherwise, the nuggets, which

cost $4.75 and come with a garlic and parsley relish, can’t be

recommended highly enough.

EVENT OF THE DAY

Get down with the farm boys and watch them milking cows every day at 3

p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Millennium Barn. The milking folks suggest

to get there 15 minutes early to find a good watching spot. The milking

takes about eight to 10 minutes and each cow gives between three and five

gallons.

BARGAIN OF THE DAY

Scott at The Sandalman has been making sandals for 25 years and is

offering his custom-made footwear in Crafters Village. The shoes run from

$20 to $150. He also sells sheepskin boots for those cold winter days in

Southern California.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“There’s a sheep ready to pop.”

-- Alex Smith, 17, who takes care of animals in the fair’s Maternity

Barn.
