The Costa Mesa City Council tabled a decision on whether to approve a

decorative retaining wall and stairway at the Canary Drive entrance to

Fairview Park.

The wall and stairway, estimated at $75,000 and recommended by both

the Parks Commission and city staff, would be built at the Canary Drive

cul-de-sac using materials and designs to deter skateboarders.

The commission also recommended that the council delete a bike route

on Tanager Drive between Golf Course Drive to Canary Drive from the

master plan of bikeways, and deny another bike trail behind the Tanager

Drive homes between Golf Course Drive and Canary Drive. That will be

considered at the Aug. 6 council meeting.
