Softball: VU inks two softball players

COSTA MESA - Vanguard University has announced the signings of two

softball players -- Antelope Valley College transfer Marciea Ball, from

Lancaster, and freshman Lauren Manriquez of Diamond Bar High.

Ball, who will be a junior at VU, played two years at Antelope Valley,

where the 5-foot-9 right-handed pitcher recorded 166 strikeouts last

season and earned first-team All-Foothill Conference honors. She was also

voted team MVP.

Manriquez, who can play infield or outfield, played travel ball for

the Southern California Rebels-Gold. An honor roll student at Diamond

Bar, Manriquez was an Academic All-Sierra League player in 2001.

Ball plans to major in liberal studies, Manriquez in education or

psychology.
