The arraignment of a man arrested last week by Costa Mesa police and

suspected in six murders and several high-profile jewelry store robberies

was postponed Monday until Aug. 9.

Anh The Duong, 26, of Costa Mesa was taken into custody while playing

basketball at the 24 Hour Fitness on Anton Boulevard on July 16.

Duong, who appeared on “America’s Most Wanted” in April 2000, is

accused of shooting four people to death at The International Club in El

Monte on May 6, 1999.

In San Jose, Duong is wanted on suspicion of murder, attempted murder

and robbery. He also is accused of a 1998 robbery homicide involving a

computer store in Fremont.

Newport Beach and Costa Mesa police also are investigating whether

Duong had any part in two high-profile jewelry store incidents in the

past year: a September robbery at Torneau Watch Co. in South Coast Plaza

and a January attempt at Traditional Jewelers at Fashion Island that

ended in a hail of bullets.
