A 20-year-old man fled after ramming his car into the glass window of

a Costa Mesa furniture store Thursday morning, officials said.

According to witnesses, the man, dressed in a long-sleeved white shirt

and green pants, was trying to pull into the parking lot in the 2900

block of Fairview Road, said Costa Mesa Police Lt. Dale Birney.

He said a witness told police that, just as the man was trying to pull

into a parking spot, the car accelerated, jumped over the sidewalk and

crashed into a furniture store’s glass window.

“The driver then got out of the car and took off running,” Birney

said.

He added that the car was not stolen. Also, investigators did not find

anything in the car that suggested criminal activity, Birney said.
