Tennis: Palisades juniors will vie in state-title match

NEWPORT BEACH - The Palisades Tennis Club’s boys under-15 blue team

captured the Southern California championship in the 2000-01 USA Junior

Team Tennis season.

The team, under captain Ginny Koury, will travel to Northern

California Aug. 25-26 to compete for the USA Junior Team Tennis state

championship.

Palisades won the Orange County title in the fall of 2000, then went

on to compete in a Southern California playoff at UCLA in February,

defeating Ventura in the final.

Palisades then defeated Upland, the spring 2001 league champions, for

the right to vie in the state-title match next month against host

Tiburon.

Tyler Deck, Dylan Espley-Jones, Charlie Farmer, Christopher Kearney,

Robert Koury, Shaun Maguire and Brennan Roberts play for the Palisades

squad.
