Bookstore continues holding youth classes
With summer nearing its final month before the start of fall classes,
there is still time to enjoy several youth programs at Barnes and Noble
in Huntington Beach.
Currently, the bookseller is offering two youth-themed classes: Monday
evening’s “Pajamarama” and Saturday morning’s “Story Time.”
“Pajamarama” is held each Monday from 7 to 8 p.m., and children can
come in their pajamas. “Story Time” runs from 11 a.m. to noon. Both
classes allow children the chance to enjoy some of their favorite stories
read to them by a Barnes and Noble staff member.
“We try to make this as interactive as possible,” said Elizabeth
Thompson, community relations manager for Barnes and Noble. “Sometimes we
do a theme, where we involve a character from a certain book, and there
is even coloring and arts and crafts offered in the classes.”
Once a month, a character makes an appearance at the store. In July,
Winnie the Pooh made a visit. This month, Little Critter, featured in a
series of children’s books, will stop by.
On Aug. 27, the Young Reader’s Book Club (open to youth ages 9 to 12)
will hold its final meeting of the year.
