Although one section of it is still under construction, Seacliff

Village Shopping Center, located on Yorktown Avenue between Main Street

and Goldenwest Avenue, has opened with a sleek look and several new

businesses. Completely torn down and rebuilt from the bottom up, the

center has an appealing modern style in stone and stucco. There are still

a few spaces available for lease, but businesses that are up and running

include Albertson’s, Staples, Blockbuster Video, Seacliff Florist and

Facet 58, a jewelry store. If you need some personal pampering, Arlene

Beauty Center is open for manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. An

attractive cut and hair style can be found at the newly opened Haircut

Store.

Offering perms, weaves, tints, or highlights and the latest fashion

styles, the Haircut Store is one of a singularly owned chain that

provides quality cuts for men, women, children and seniors.

Stacey Rector, 28, a stylist with 10-years experience working at the

Haircut Store is hoping to build new clientele by working at the Seacliff

Village center. Rector used to work at a Fountain Valley Haircut Store

and enjoys the casual atmosphere of her work environment, as well as the

chance to meet so many new and interesting people. Her favorite part of

her job is coloring hair and she told me that more people these days are

experimenting with several different shades. Blond highlights and bob

cuts have been popular this summer.

Rector is a Huntington Beach resident and she told me she loves

working in Huntington Beach for many reasons, “Since this is beach area,

people are more willing to try new things with bright colors and new

styles. Yet, they want something easy and low maintenance. It makes me

feel good to give the customer a change that they really like and a style

they can keep up themselves on a day to day basis.”

Stacey Rector and the several other qualified hairdressers at the

Haircut Store welcome walk-in customers or you can call ahead for an

appointment. Their special on basic cuts that always includes a shampoo

is only $14 for adults and $13 for children. For more information you

can visit the Haircut Store at 7151 Yorktown Ave. #105 or give them a

call for an appointment at (714) 374-9333.

Once you’re looking beautiful with your new haircut, manicure, or

facial from one of the new businesses at the Seacliff Village center, you

should consider giving the same kind of treatment to your furry

companion. The Doggie Spa has recently opened its doors and it offers

both self-service and full-service opportunities to clean your pet.

Owners Michael and Vikki Palajac started the business because they felt

“there was a tremendous need in Huntington Beach because of the Dog Beach

and dog park.” They are the proud owners of a German Shepherd/Husky who

loves to romp at the beach. The Palajacs got the idea to start their

business after going through all the hassle to get their beloved canine

companion clean. At only a short distance from Dog Beach, their Seacliff

Village location was the perfect place to open up their dog wash.

At The Doggie Spa for only $14 you have access to a private area with

an elevated tub, ladder and side table, so you can easily wash your dog

yourself. There are pet ramps or small steps to help get your dog in and

out of the tub and you are allotted a full hour to use their heated

water, apron and gloves, all natural shampoo and scrubbers. Once he’s out

of the bath, they have two-speed blow dryers available at every station

plus plenty of towels, combs and even cologne for the finishing touch.

The best part about the self-service aspect of the dog wash is that there

is absolutely no cleanup for the customer. You can make the mess and

dirty up the towels and they’ll take care of cleaning up.

If you’d rather let an expert take over and prefer not to wash your

pet yourself, full-service express wash is offered starting at $24. The

Palajacs, or one of their four qualified employees, will take over and

give your pet lots of tender loving care along with an ear cleaning and

nail clipping. They also have the knowledge and training to discover

abnormalities on the animal like skin irritations and draw them to the

owner’s attention.

If your pet does need to be examined by a veterinarian, soon you’ll be

able to just walk next door since Seacliff Animal Hospital will be

opening its doors in Suite 101 directly adjacent to The Doggie Spa. Dr.

Cynthia Garza, an experienced veterinarian, is relocating with her

practice from Sunset Beach.

Michael Palajac is thrilled about the opening of the veterinarian

practice right next door to his dog wash and he told me, “I’m hoping it

will increase my clientele with all that paw traffic.”

The Doggie Spa happily services dogs of all kinds as well as cats,

ferrets, potbellied pigs and just about any other domesticated animal. It

also sells a variety of collars, specialized shampoos, dog treats, toys,

grooming tools. A teeth cleaning service that does not employ the use of

dangerous anesthesia is also available once a month.

The Doggie Spa “proudly serves the Huntington Beach community” at

19365 Main Street, Suite 103. You can walk-in with your pet or call for

an appointment at (714) 374-8777.
