TODAY
The Huntington Beach Art Center is showing an exhibition titled “It’s
Not What You Think It Is.” The show features works created by students
from three local middle schools and one high school. The exhibit will
also include works by their mentor and instructor. It is scheduled to run
through Aug 18. The opening reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. today. The
center is open noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; noon to 8
p.m. Thursday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Huntington Beach Playhouse is presenting, “Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat” Friday through Aug. 26. The production is a hip
biblical tale of the prophetic son Joseph who was sold into slavery by
his brothers. The show includes a contemporary blend of calypso, rock ‘n’

The Moms Offering Moms Support Club, a nonprofit support group for
stay-at-home mothers, organizes daily activities for mothers and their
children including park play days, fun field trips and age appropriate

A “Retro Swing” five-week workshop for adults and teens is being

Beach (Peter’s Landing Marina). The course will include how to read
charts, latitude and longitude, direction, time, speed, distance, chart
plotting, compass errors, bearings, set and drift, tides, Loran, GPS,
Radar, fuel and voyage planning and a final examination followed by a
certificate of accomplishment. Cost is $45 and includes books and charts.
