SURF AND SUN
WEATHER FORECAST
A nice mild morning sets the scene for the day. Partly cloudy to start
things off, with temperatures right in the mid-60s. The clouds should
clear away by late morning, making way for a not-too-hot 76 degrees or
so. By evening, the temperatures will be dipping back into the 60s. The
night will remain clear.
BOATING FORECAST
Light winds on the inner waters make for an easy morning before they
kick up just a notch to between 10 and 15 knots, producing about 2-foot
wind waves. The swell is a manageable 3 feet and stays that way through
the day. Watch out for early morning patches of fog.
Out on the seas, the winds won’t slow down below 10 knots in the
morning and then will pick up to 15 to 25 knots in the afternoon, making
for 3- and 4-foot waves to contend with. A mix of southwest and northwest
at about 5 feet is something to keep in mind. There may be some early
morning fog too.
SURF
That brief swell sure was brief. The waves are back in the waist- to
chest-high range, and conditions are starting to fall apart too. Soft
winds will keep things clean in the morning, but the low tide about 8
a.m. will produce more close-outs than a sale at a 99-cent store. Winds
in the afternoon could make it a little messy. Newport Pier, in
particular, is looking pretty weak this morning. You’re better off at the
jetties. The Wedge might hold some final, fun barrels for the
bodysurfers.

FRONT
This figures. It’s Saturday, so is it really hot? Nope. Nothing more
than high 70s, which is hardly worth waking up for -- luckily the Pilot
is. See Page 2
