The Balboa Yacht Club opens its doors Monday for a fund-raiser,

Fantasy Island Adventure, with a perfect theme for the harbor: the beach.

The event will raise money for the Friends of the Orange Coast

Interfaith Shelter begins at 6 p.m. at the Corona del Mar yacht club. The

proceeds will benefit homeless families at the shelter.

The adventure will include dancing, a raffle plus a silent and voice

auction.

A jazz master

Jazz legend Dave Brubeck will take the stage in the Orange County

Performing Arts Center’s Founders Hall at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13-15. The

pianist and composer will be opening the Center’s 2001-02 Jazz Club

series -- and doing it in style.

PLANNING AHEAD

PEACE OUT

The eighth annual Orange County Peace Walk/Jam will take place at

Triangle Square in Costa Mesa. The free event celebrates the United

Nations’ International Day of Peace and will feature live entertainment,

raffles, nonprofit group displays and an organized walk around the

square.

FOOD FEST

The 17th annual Food, Wine and Micro-Brew Fest benefiting the Second

Harvest Food Bank of Orange County is coming to the Macy’s Home

Store/Crate & Barrel wing of South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Orange

County restaurants, regional vineyards, and microbreweries will serve up

their specialties to an expected 1,500 attendees. The food and drinks

will be accompanied by live Salsa dancing and music. Tickets are $50, $40

pre-event.
